Rainbow Room Newsletter April WK 1

Rainbow Room Newsletter
March 31st- April 4th

THIS WEEK:
This week is all about Community Helpers and Transportation!  We will be talking about Police men, fire men, doctors, dentists, and having a visit from a train conductor!
We will get to do some fun science experiments, taking care of our stuffed animals by putting bandaids on them and checking their health, creating a class train and more.

SHARING:
Your favorite transportation toy or book!

DONATIONS FOR THIS WEEK:
Toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes for Thursday and Friday class!

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY:
We will be having a visit to the Rainbow Room class from a Train Conductor.  His name is Chevy and he is very nice (he is also my fiance)!  He will be dressed in his train clothes (overalls, boots, hat) and talking about train safety, the different parts of a train, and what they carry. 

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL:
June 19th

SILENT AUCTION:
Will be held the week of April 14th - 19th, the week after spring break.

Rainbow Room News March Wk 4

March 24th - 28th

THIS WEEK:
This week is all about Eric Carle and his wonderful books!  We will be creating a variety of caterpillars, creating our own cloud book, and creating firefly pictures.  We will get to play with shaving cream on Wednesday so be prepared for messy shirts!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY THIS WEEK:
If you need to add more hours onto your time...
You can bring in items for this weeks crafts which will give you 15 min of volunteer time.

Things we need:
Monday and Tuesday - Egg Cartons (10)
Thursday and Friday - Neon Bandaids (4 packets)

Please let me know if you are donating items!  I need to know about the bandaids by Wednesday at the latest.  Thank you! 

VOLUNTEER HOURS:
Many of you still need to complete your 2 hours of Volunteer work.  
I have many opportunities for you to sign up for...if you aren't able to come to the school to volunteer I can either send home cutting projects or you could make donations.  
Small donations are 15 min 
Large donations 30 min

Please check the Volunteer Binder outside the classroom for details and to check how many hours you still need! 

Thank you!  I just want to make sure everyone is taken care of!

This week we are celebrating St. Patricks Day and learning about the letter P!
We will be learning some new leprechaun and shamrock songs.  We will be doing fun St. Patricks day crafts and more!

ST. PATRICKS DAY PARADE:
Monday 17th we will release at 11:30 for the annual Paddy Hough Parade.
The event begins at 12:30.
We will meet at Hough Elementary about 11:45ish located at 1900 Daniels.
This is a great family event!
Usually takes about 45min.
Feel free to bring strollers, wagons, or other means of wheeled transportation for your children.
Wear your school shirts to show school spirit!

STUDENT PROJECT BIDDING:
Bidding for the student Auction items will be help March 24th - 28th.  
Winners will be announced during the dinner auction on the 29th.
Bidding ends at NOON on March 28th

THIS WEEK:
This week we are reviewing our colors again through science!  We will be doing lots of experiments with mixing colors with paint, salt, water colors, shaving cream, and ice cubes!  
We will be getting messy this week!

PLAYROOM:
As a reminder, please NO food or drinks in the Playroom.  We have children in the school with life-threatening allergies and need to keep all food and drinks out of the playroom.  Thank you!

AUCTION:
Early Bird Action Tickets are on SALE until the 14th.
Tickets are $15.00 per person 
$25.00 per couple

Reserved Table at the front of the auction for auction
Tables have a 4 couple capacity and go for $150.00 a table.

Ticket prices will go up March 17th to $25.00 per person
$45.00 per couple
TICKETS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE UNTIL MARCH 21st

Send a sack lunch but NO nut products to school with children that day
Hough is on 19th and Daniels.
Parking might be tight - carpool if you can.

Rainbow Room News March Wk 1

March 3rd - 7th

THIS WEEK:
Last week at our Family Fun night we got to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday!  This week we will be continuing the celebration with cute crafts, fun games, and silly stories!  We will get to create a class foot book as well as making some ooblick!

PADDY HOUGH PARADE:
Monday 17th we will be participating in the annual Paddy Hough Parade.
Begins at 12:30
We will release students at 11:30am on this day so that you can make your way down to the staging area for the parade
Bring a sack lunch (no nut products please)!
We will meet in front of Hough Elementary about 11:45ish
located at 1900 Daniels (just a few blocks away)
Younger siblings are welcome to join!
Route usually take 45 min to walk...we invite you to bring strollers, wagons, or other means of wheeled transportation.
Wear your school orange shirt!

STUDENT PROJECT BIDDING:
Bidding for the student created Auction items will be head 
March 24th - 28th
Winners will be announced during the auction dinner on the 29th
Look for bid sheets and student projects outside the classroom doors that week
Bidding ENDS at noon on March 28th 

ANNUAL DINNER AUCTION:
GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY!!!
Early Bird Tickets be on sale Monday 3rd - 14th
Tickets are $15.00 per person or $25.00 per couple during this time
Tickets may be purchased until 21st at noon.  
Ticket prices go up March 17th and will be $25.00 per person and $45.00 per couple
Your ticket includes:
appetizers, dinner, beverages, dessert, entertainment, and access to live and silent auction items
ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT GO TOWARD CLASSROOM MATERIALS AND SCHOLARSHIPS!!!

Dinner includes:  (Meat or Veggie option) meals include antipasto type appetizers, marinated meat/Italian Pasta Salad. Caesar salad, garlic bread, beverages and dessert.

$12 for the night
$20 for two preschoolers
space is limited to 20 children
you must sign up and pay when you purchase your ticket for the auction.

If you have any items to donate or know someone with a business that would like to donate items or a service we would love to accept them!

INCLEMENT WEATHER:
Due to the number of inclement weather days...school will be extended.
Last day of school will now be June 19th, 2014
